One of the advantages of Lockmart having four physical locksmith shops is that not every problem requires an onsite locksmith callout. If you can safely remove the lock, cylinder or hardware and bring it to us, we can often identify, repair, rekey or make keys for it in-store for a fraction of the cost of sending a locksmith to site.
A key-cutting kiosk normally needs an existing working key to copy.

If you've lost the only key, Lockmart may still be able to produce a working replacement depending on the type of lock.
Many locks, cabinets, vehicles and pieces of equipment use a manufacturer key code. Where the appropriate code information is available, our locksmiths can often use professional key-cutting equipment to produce the key directly to the required specification.
That means an original key isn't always required.
Where there is no existing key or usable code, a locksmith may be able to determine the required key by examining or disassembling the lock, decoding its internal configuration or using specialist locksmithing techniques.
In some situations, rekeying the lock and supplying completely new keys may be more practical or secure.

A key copied directly from a heavily worn key can sometimes reproduce that wear. Because Lockmart is a locksmith rather than simply a key-copying kiosk, we can assess the key and lock and determine whether there is a better way to produce an accurate replacement.
Depending on the key and lock, this may involve decoding the key, cutting it back to specification, cutting from a known code or working from the lock itself.
The same applies to bent, cracked or broken keys. Even if the existing key is no longer suitable to simply duplicate, it may still give our locksmiths enough information to help produce a replacement.
Standard house and door keys make up a large part of our everyday key cutting, but they're far from all we do.
For businesses, we regularly cut keys for offices, warehouses, storerooms, roller doors, cabinets and commercial locking systems. If you're concerned about employees or contractors being able to make unauthorised copies, ask our team about a restricted key system, where additional keys are supplied through a controlled authorisation process.

Vehicle keys can be considerably more involved than a normal house key because many modern cars require both the physical blade to be cut and an electronic transponder or remote to be programmed to the vehicle.

If the key belongs to a genuine restricted key system, additional keys are supplied through the authorised ordering process for that system. Proof of authority may be required before a new key can be produced.

The words “Do Not Copy” do not necessarily tell us whether the key belongs to a genuinely controlled restricted key system.
